 | I love these old pictures... And I hope everybody will find his roots again... Best wishes! H* |
 | The pictures are so interesting. Especially the older photos. I traced my family back to Southern Galicia, namely the town of Raba Wzyna and Sieniawa, Poland. Visited these towns but could only spend a few hours. Hope to go back and try to trace my grandparents information. Not having much luck going from the U.S. to Poland. Poland seems to be a dead end of the search. I thank you for posing these pictures. Krystyna |
 | Yes, I also like old cards, not only from "my'" Galicia. AndI especially like to compare sites on old cards with the contemporary views... Unfortunatelly, it seams usually that in old time the views were better than today... |
 | Great photos. Do you have any of Ugartsthal, Ukraine? My ancestors evidently came from there. Thanks for posting your photos. Barbara

 | See my blog and my genealogy, there should be a oicture of the church in Ugartsthal. Ugartsthal was completely destroyed in the war, only some stones reamins the cemetery there... I will put a link to some pictury of contemporary "Ugarsthal", an Ukrainian village Siwka. |

Austrian Galicia (Galizien) in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galicia_%28Central_Europe%29#From_partitions_of_Pol\and_to_the_Congress_of_Vienna From partitions of Poland to the Congress of Vienna During the first decades of Austrian rule, Galicia was firmly governed from Vienna and many significant reforms were carried out by a bureaucracy staffed largely by Germans and Germanized Czechs.
